ABOUT US
Hello and thank you for checking out our crowdfunding page! We are Team Argus, a Biomolecular Engineering Senior Design team at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Our team is comprised of four highly-skilled and enthusiastic engineers: Rebekah, Ben, Brian, and Steven. Under the supervision of Dr. Eryn Hassemer and Dr. Gul Afshan, our group has been given the opportunity to design and test our own point-of-care (POC), or at-home, kit to differentiate between COVID-19 and Influenza.
OUR PROJECT
Our goal is to create a product that is rapid, inexpensive and accurate in differentiating COVID-19 and Influenza. We chose to differentiate between these two diseases because of the similar symptoms that occur in mild cases. Additionally, these two diseases tend to peak during the same time of year, making it nearly impossible to differentiate the two without proper testing. Current solutions do exist to differentiate between the two diseases, however their approaches are time-consuming and expensive. It is our hope that detection of one or both of the diseases will lead to proper treatment and isolation regimens which can slow the spread of disease.
WE NEED YOUR HELP!
The overall goal of this project is to develop a device to distinguish between COVID-19 and Influenza infections. Once complete, this can aid those infected to pursue the proper course of treatment. In order to produce a high quality and accurate product, we need to test every component of our design and ensure that it surpasses all standards of efficacy and safety. With your donation, we intend to purchase all necessary supplies to perform tests including, but not limited to, antibodies, antigens, nitrocellulose membranes, buffers, and reagents. Since the cost associated with these materials can accumulate quickly, your donation can help alleviate the pressure from the acquisition of the necessary components and assist us with the progression of our project.
