Care for Campus - Support Students' Health and Wellbeing

Impact

The physical and mental wellbeing of our students is one of our top priorities. As the world still works to move past the pandemic, health and counseling services are more important than ever for all of us. By giving today, you are helping to ensure we provide the best possible on-campus resources including prevention, awareness and care when our students need it the most.

Last year, the MSOE community raised nearly $1,500 to support Health and Counseling Services on Giving Tuesday! In addition to supporting the department's programming on awareness and prevention, we were also able to support a few students in very specific ways:

  • One student who had medical bills in collection from contracting COVID-19 that they and their family were unable to pay.
  • One student who was unable to afford daily meals.
  • One student who was unable to afford treatment for a chronic condition that impacted their daily life.

These are just a few examples of the many students who are struggling to focus on their academics due to the impacts of their physical or mental health. There is a high need amongst college students in this area. Every MSOE student juggles many things between lectures, labs, homework, internships, personal life, campus involvement and other areas of life but some are struggling through more than others. Your support can help us ensure that MSOE students have the support they need to lighten some of the other burdens they are facing and focus on being a student.

We Need Your Help!

Help us lighten the burden on our students and keep them healthy so they can focus on what they came here for—a quality education.

Join us in supporting our students' wellbeing this year with a gift to Health and Counseling Services-- all gifts will be generously matched by an anonymous alumni donor from the class of 1991 up to $2,500.

About Health and Counseling Services

Educating our campus on awareness and prevention of struggles and illnesses common to the young adult population while providing the best possible on-campus care is of utmost importance, especially for students who may be away from their families for the first time.

At MSOE, we do everything we can to keep our students safe, but illness and injuries are a part of life. Our Health Services Office offers assessment, diagnosis and treatment by a certified nurse practitioner for common health problems students may face. Health Services also acts as a resource by referring to local specialists if needed and providing health and wellness coaching.

MSOE Counseling Services supports our students with healthy and productive coping mechanisms and intervention as needed. One in three college students in the United States will struggle with depression while in school. Counseling Services offers a confidential space for students to address difficulties they may be facing while pursuing their education goals including study habits, social conflicts, self-esteem, career decision making, stress, anxiety and other personal concerns.
