Make a Difference in Our Veterans' Lives

MSOE strives to be a welcoming place for veterans of the United States military. Thanks to generous private gifts from MSOE alumni and friends we have been able to provide important services and resources for our veteran community on campus. Help us recognize their service and make their time on campus as welcoming and supportive as possible. Having given so much for their country, they deserve the best support we are able to offer them.

Your gift to Veteran Support Services will provide:

  • Improvements to the Veterans' Lounge
  • Accessible parking on campus for veterans
  • Book stipends for veterans with a demonstrated financial need
  • Continued support for the Student Veterans Organization and veteran focused programming
  • Presentations for faculty and staff development on veteran Issues
  • Community and social events designed to foster community among the veterans
  • Bringing community veteran resources to campus

We Need Your Help!

This year, alumnus and veteran Dick Powers '70 and his wife Fran have renewed their challenge for the MSOE community. Powers served 39 months during the Vietnam War and was deployed to Germany where he was part of the team that set up the first satellite communications station in Europe.

In recognition of the service all of our veterans, help us step up to the challenge and make a difference in the lives of veterans and active military at MSOE. We need your support to reach our goal of raising $3,000 for Veteran Support Services. We are excited to announce that 20 unique gifts to vets will unlock an additional $500, thanks to the generous support of alumnus and veteran, Dick Powers ’70 and his wife Fran.

About Veteran Student Support Services

Veterans and current military are an important and valued part of the MSOE community. MSOE offers many resources for current military, veterans and veteran dependents and we are proud to have been designated a Military Friendly School by VIQTORY each year since 2013, and was ranked second Best College for Veterans in the Midwest by U.S. News and World Report (2022).

Our Student Veterans Organization is led by students to helps bridge the gap between military and civilian life through advocacy, resources for both veteran issues and academic concerns, and most importantly a community that supports its members as they work towards their academic success. The organization, composed of current military, veterans, and veteran dependents, hosts social and service events, informational sessions with VA representatives, hands-on sessions for healthcare enrollment and claim submission and career service opportunities. The group formed as a way to ensure that veterans don’t feel alone as they go through their schooling at MSOE and has turned into a powerhouse of advocacy and support for current and prospective students.
