After the concrete canoe cured for 4 weeks, the MSOE concrete canoe team began sanding with very coarse sand paper. Once all the small blemishes and smoothness is sanded out the team will start applying a "slurry" mixture to the canoe to make the colors vibrant. Stay tuned for more updates!
The MSOE concrete canoe team poured their canoe December 11th 2021 before going on winter break. During winter break, the canoe cured in the curing tent for four weeks with a humidity of 90% and temperature of 80 degrees Fahrenheit. This allowed the canoe achieve its ultimate strength. We are not currently sanding the canoe to achieve a smooth and even look.
