ABOUT US
Global Medical Brigades at MSOE is a chapter of an international movement of students and medical professionals working alongside local communities and staff to implement sustainable health systems. We work with remote, rural, and under-resourced communities in Honduras, Panama, Nicaragua, and Ghana that would otherwise have limited to no access to health care. Each community receives a brigade every 3 to 4 months where hundreds of patients are provided access to healthcare and volunteers deliver public health workshops. Electronic patient records are collected for future visitations and to monitor overall community health trends.
In conjunction with our Medical Program, Global Brigades also supports communities with economic development, sanitation, and clean water projects, and uniquely implements these programs in a holistic model to meet a community’s health and economic goals. Our model systematically builds community ownership and collaboratively executes programs with the end goal of sustainably evolving to a relationship of impact monitoring. OUR PROJECT
This year, a team of 28 volunteers from the MSOE chapter of Global Brigades will be visiting 2 under-resourced villages in Honduras from February 27th- March 6th. Care will be provided in a COVID-19-safe manner.
THE IMPACT
Your generous donations make this trip possible. Each volunteer makes a huge impact in the lives of the people we serve, but they are unable to make this impact without your generous donations. Each volunteer requires lodging accommodations, covid-related expenses, supplies, and airfare totaling nearly $2000 per person--a hefty sum for a college student. Your donations will not only help offset a portion of the cost for each student, but your support is what allows us to help hundreds of people receive the care they need.
