VEX U Raider Robotics Competition

About Us

Raider Robotics VEX U is a collegiate robotics team at MSOE. The main purpose of our organization is to help students learn more about robotics, and challenge what they know through unique engineering challenges. We provide a practical opportunity for students to apply what they've learned in classes to the real world, with the support of a team and other students around them.

Our veteran members provide mentorship and documentation to help anyone learn what they want, regardless of previous knowledge or major. As an added benefit, students get to compete against other colleges, focusing on improvements to their own engineering skills and the team's robots in the process. Our team is a community of students who like hard challenges and want to have fun making robots, along with a group of people who are trying to broaden the knowledge of the VEX U community, as a whole, pushing the boundaries of competitive robotics further than ever.

Our Work

Our team also focuses on giving back to the MSOE community - supporting multi-disciplinary workshops for any student who wants to attend. So far this academic year, we've held three workshops, focused on CAD, pneumatics, and software in the first quarter of school alone. We plan on hosting future workshops to dive deeper into software, along with taking students through the process of creating their own printed circuit boards (PCBs) for a robot-oriented problem we've worked to solve.

Why do we need support?

With all the work we've put into the season so far, it's finally competition season! Last year, we became 2021 World Champions in only the second year of our team's existence, against nearly 70 other universities all around the world. We have the opportunity to compete in person this year, allowing our team members to meet other students in VEX U programs from around the US while learning how to work in a team in a fast-paced competition setting. Our tournaments take place in person at various venues across the Midwest, where we will be competing against schools such as Purdue, UIUC, Michigan State, UW-Platteville, and many more.

We want our students to see their effort in action. Many of our team members have spent countless extracurricular hours to help make these robots and this team come alive, both through the hardware, software, project management, and all of the events we put on for our team and the community. Your support helps our students make it to the competition, which in turn helps us learn more, and improve our robots during the season! This directly helps our students learn more, compete more, and get more engagement from our program.
